Types Of Breast Augmentation Surgery For More Beautiful Breast

If you want to make your breast look more beautiful, you can opt for a breast augmentation surgery. While these surgeries can be done for reconstructive purposes, you can also do them purely for cosmetic reasons. There are several types of implants available. Each has a unique requirement for a procedure and each comes with benefits and risks.

Types Of Breast Augmentation Surgery

Basically, there are two types of breast implants namely, silicone gel and saline. These implants are typically followed by a breast lift depending on the client’s need and the extent of the augmentation.

Silicone Gel Implants

This kind of implant requires the use of plastic gel-filled silicone shells. These shells are inserted into the breast through incisions created by the plastic surgeon. An anesthetic is usually administered before the procedure is done. This is to reduce the pain and discomfort associated with it. Many women believe that the silicone implants feel more natural than the saline implants. The implants are made in different sizes so you have the right to choose from a variety. If you’re not sure which size you want, the surgeon can advise you accordingly depending on your body shape.

Saline-filled Implants

The saline-filled implants are still done with silicone shells but instead of being filled with plastic gel, they are filled with saline/salt water. While some saline implants are prefilled, some others are filled during the procedure. The surgeon will open incisions, implant the employ shell, and use a syringe to inflate it with saline. An anesthesia is also administered for this procedure. Just like silicone, saline implants come in various shapes and sizes.

How Does It Work?

Before you can have a breast augmentation surgery you must be above 18 years for saline implants and above 22 years for silicone implants. This is according to the FDA’s requirements. The reason for this is that the female breasts keep developing until the last teens or early 20s. Before the procedure, the surgeon will schedule an appointment for medical evaluation. During this appointment, you’ll have the opportunity to tell the doctor what you want to achieve with the implant. If you’re on medication, your doctor may stop you from taking them for a few days before the procedure. You may stay overnight or return home the same day. The main procedure only takes about one or two hours to complete. Because of the anesthesia, you’ll not feel any pain and you’ll most likely be asleep.

Depending on the type of implant you want, your body and the size of the implant, the surgeon will make an incision either around your nipples, on your armpits, in your navel, or under your breast. After creating the incision, the doctor will create a pocket and insert the implant. The incision will be closed with surgical tape or sutures.

How Long Do You Need To Recover?

After the breast augmentation surgery the doctor may connect drainage tubes to your body but these tubes are typically removed after a few days. During the healing process, wearing a surgical bra will be advised. A few days after the surgery, you’ll need to avoid stressing yourself out. Wait for at least six weeks after before lifting heavy objects. The surgeon might prescribe some pain killers to help you cope with the pain during the period.

A breast augmentation procedure is a life changing experience that will make you a more beautiful version of yourself.
