LifeStraw vs. Gravity Purifier: Tested For Emergency Use Case... 5L Comparison

We recently tested the LifeStraw Mission 5L gravity-fed purifier in an emergency scenario, comparing it against traditional methods. The setup was simple: attach the filter to a water source, release the valve, and collect clean water in a container. The 5L capacity proved ideal for group use, yielding about 2.5 liters of purified water per hour. The sleek design made it easy to carry, though ours coughed a bit at high flow rates. The glass cartridges were durable, but we noticed each needed careful alignment to avoid air gaps. While the Mission offers convenience, the gravity purifier felt more intuitive for large-scale emergencies. Between the two, we prefer the Mission’s portability but appreciate the gravity system’s low-maintenance operation. Ultimately, both deliver reliable results, but our choice depends on the situation.
